You can also keep it simple and spend the time in the duty-free section, getting perfumes or confectionery, and a paperback or book, and sit in the Primeclass Lounge, where the Wi-Fi will be active, have a drink or snack, and sit back, until it is time to board.
Hint: If you are in need of a break from the terminal crowd, go to one of the quiet areas or prayer rooms.
On reaching the arrivals area, get a taxi to Dammam Corniche (approximately 25–30 minutes). Take a walk on the waterside, savour the expansive scenery, and take a drink in one of the local cafes. Plan on getting back to DMM at least two hours before going to avoid trouble going through security. The Meet and Greet offered by Airport Assist will take you through the faster lanes and make sure you can be back at your gate without the hassles.
Get out of the airport and go to Khobar Corniche or Mall of Dhahran (approximately 30–35 minutes in a taxi). Take some time to walk along the beachfront or go shopping in the shops and cafes of the mall. Get back to DMM with plenty of check-in and security time and avail yourself of Fast Track service so that you can relax while circulating around the airport before boarding your next flight.
There are many restaurants in Terminal 1 of King Fahd International Airport (DMM), most of which are focused on fast-food restaurants and coffee shops. Classic international restaurants such as Al Baik, Burger King, and Popeyes can also be found in the Arrivals and Departures levels, so the passengers can order full meals before or after the flight.
The terminal has coffee shops where both Starbucks and Tim Hortons present coffee, drinks, and snacks. Passengers who may be waiting between checking in and boarding are the most frequent consumers of the cafes; this is also among the most convenient places for food in the terminal.
In the Departures area, Root 98 provides sandwiches, salads, and packaged selections to travellers who want to eat lighter or healthier. There are other grab-and-go kiosks in the terminal which sell snacks, bottled drinks and basic bakery products which can be easily bought by the passengers on their way to their terminal.
The food outlets at DMM are collectively a viable combination of the global fast-food restaurants, established coffee shops and small snack counters, all located within Terminal 1 to cater to travellers in case of short waiting time or extended layovers.
The airport has various lounges at both its national and international terminals, which provide travellers with a choice of peaceful and comfortable environments to rest or do some work before boarding the plane.
